Simon graduated with a Bachelor of Music (Performance) with first class honours from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in 2008 and went on to complete a Diploma of Early Music in 2009, specialising in Baroque Trumpet under Leanne Sullivan. He has also had the privilege to undertake further study with many of the leading trumpet players and teachers in the world including Barbara Butler, Stephen Burns, Marie Speziale, Tony Plog, David Staff, and Susan Williams.
Simon has performed in the US, UK, Europe and Asia and works with many of Australia’s leading Early Music practitioners including appearances as guest principal trumpet with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra & Bach Akademie Australia. In 2018 he made his Baroque horn debut playing Principal Trumpet and Solo Horn in Bach’s B Minor Mass with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs at the Sydney Opera House and has gone on to perform as principal horn with Canberra Bach Ensemble and the Ancient Academy of St Andrew’s.
Simon can regularly be heard performing Bach Cantatas at St Andrew’s Cathedral, St James King St, Canberra Bach Ensemble and the Sydney Cantata Project.
